Kristina M. Reinstatler, PharmD, MBA, BCPP, FAAPP, is a Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist and Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Psychiatry and Addiction Sciences at UC Health – University of Cincinnati Medical Center. With more than a decade of experience in psychiatric pharmacy, she leads innovative clinical services focused on benzodiazepine tapering, pharmacogenomics integration, metabolic monitoring for patients on antipsychotics, and treatment of substance use disorders. Her work centers on improving patient outcomes through interdisciplinary collaboration and patient centered care models.
Dr. Reinstatler has played a key role in building a pharmacist led benzodiazepine taper clinic within an academic health system. Her work integrates evidence based tapering approaches, shared decision making, and supportive patient engagement to improve safety and outcomes during discontinuation.
Throughout her career, Dr. Reinstatler has developed health system protocols and quality initiatives related to acute agitation, psychiatric emergency services, long acting injectable antipsychotics, and safe prescribing practices. She is involved in professional education, serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati in the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy and the College of Nursing and is a two-time recipient of the Golden Apple Teaching Award. Her scholarly contributions include multiple peer reviewed publications, national presentations, and ongoing research in psychiatric pharmacotherapy, substance use disorders, and clinical outcome measurement. She also serves as a manuscript reviewer for multiple journals and contributes to national professional organizations, including the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists.
Dr. Reinstatler’s clinical interests include safe deprescribing, psychotropic stewardship, and improving patient experiences during medication transitions, making her particularly passionate about advancing best practices for benzodiazepine tapering.
