Navdeep Kang, PsyD, is a psychologist and the Chief Quality Officer for Acadia Healthcare where he leads all quality functions in support of best-practice delivery in patient safety, patient experience, regulatory preparedness, accreditation readiness, and the use of clinical outcomes to improve patient care and third-party stakeholder engagement.
Prior to joining Acadia, Dr. Kang served as the Chief Clinical Officer for BrightView Health, a private-equity-backed substance use disorder treatment organization, where he led the development, implementation, and research of best practices in addiction treatment, along with BrightView's contributions to the evolving national standard of quality and value in addiction medicine. Prior to his role at BrightView, Dr. Kang led behavioral health program design, strategy, and innovation across the care continuum for Bon Secours Mercy Health, the largest health system in Ohio.
Dr. Kang was selected by President and Mrs. Obama for the Obama Foundation’s inaugural Fellowship class for his leadership in treating addiction collaboratively with partners across the healthcare system. In addition to serving on the National Quality Forum’s Technical Expert Panel on Opioid Use and Opioid Use Disorder and being appointed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to two four-year terms on the RecoveryOhio Advisory Council, he is the second-ever non-physician to be appointed to the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s Quality Improvement Council. Dr. Kang is also a prolific writer and media presence. His editorial pieces on addiction treatment services, policy, and science have been featured by the Huffington Post UK, London School of Economics, The Hill, local news outlets across the country, and he is a co-editor of the forthcoming 4th Edition of The ASAM Criteria. Winner of ASAM’s 2021 Media Award, he also makes regular live television appearances to educate the public on behavioral health and wellness and has been featured on PBS Newshour.
