Shane Collins, MD, MS is a board-certified psychiatrist and am Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences (PBHS) at the University of Southern California, where he practices university mental health care at USC’s University Park Campus and street psychiatry with the USC Street Medicine team. Clinically, he specializes in treating patients with co-occuring mental health and substance use disorders. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Collins conducts research focusing on social determinants of health, homelessness, harm reduction-based treatment modalities, and health inequities among people who use stimulants, opioids, alcohol, and other psychoactive drugs. Currently, he is the study physician on an R21 grant-funded phase II clinical trial evaluating tirzepatide in adults with alcohol use disorder and overweight or obesity (PI: Christian Hendershot, PhD). Dr. Collins also serves as the Associate Program Director for USC's Keck SOM Psychiatry Residency Program.
