Katrina Nickels, MD, DFASAM is a palliative care and addiction medicine physician at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. She received her medical training at the University of Kentucky, and is board certified in Addiction Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She joined ASAM in 2018 and served as a board member of the KY chapter 2020-2024. She graduated from the Addiction Medicine fellowship program at UK in 2022. She works in ambulatory care providing palliative and addiction care embedded in oncology, infectious disease, and at the UK First Bridge Clinic. Her clinical interests are the intersection of pain, palliative care, substance use, and serious medical illness. She serves ASAM as the Chair of the Pain & Palliative Care Community on ASAM Connect.
