Elizabeth Cerceo, MD, DCM, FACP, FHM, FEFIM is a Professor of Medicine and Executive Director of Climate Health at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine residency, and chair of Physician Engagement. She completed her medical degree at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania along with a Diploma in Climate Medicine (DCM) from the University of Colorado. She is a board-certified general internist in the Department of Hospital Medicine where she oversees faculty development and research. As the Executive Director of Climate Health, she is responsible for integrating climate health content throughout the four years of medical school, into residency and faculty development. Dr. Cerceo has co-created 24 courses for the Selectives in the Humanities as Director of the Medical Humanities.
Dr. Cerceo is a fellow in the American College of Physicians, the Society of Hospital Medicine and the European Federation of Internal Medicine. She chairs Health and Public Policy for ACP NJ, is leading a climate task force for Medical Society of NJ, and chairs two committees for the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health. She chairs Advocacy for Clinicians for Climate Action NJ, the state chapter of the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health. Dr. Cerceo is a Board Member of APHA’s Center for Climate, Health, and Equity, was recently awarded the Presidential Award from NJ Public Health Association, and is on the Board of Directors of the Climate Health Society. Her regional and national work focuses on climate health in medical education, sustainable healthcare infrastructure locally and nationally, health policy issues at the state and national level, and health equity. She has several grant-funded research projects and has published and lectured extensively.
