Cordelia Stearns, MD, AAHIVS, is an internal medicine physician and HIV specialist who is proud to serve as the Chief Medical Officer at High Country Community Health, a federally qualified health center serving four rural counties in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Dr. Stearns focuses her clinical and leadership work on expansion of access to high quality care for vulnerable and underserved patients. She has a particular interest in community health after climate disasters, and in helping patients who have experienced stigma and bias in healthcare settings.
Dr. Stearns is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at UNC, and teaches in the MAHEC Boone Family Medicine Residency. She is the recipient of multiple teaching awards, and particularly enjoys introducing students and residents to Community Health Center practice.
