Alex R. Dopp, PhD is a senior behavioral and social scientist at RAND and a professor of policy analysis at the RAND School of Public Policy. Also an implementation scientist and child clinical psychologist, he studies the use of research evidence and related policy implications for improving mental health and substance use services. He possesses rare dual expertise in behavioral health services and economic evaluation, which has enabled him to conduct research on the "upstream" influences (financing strategies) and "downstream" outcomes (economic impact) of implementing evidence-based behavioral health treatments. His research involves frequent collaboration with a variety of health policy, services, economics, and outcomes researchers, as well as patients and community partners, within an interdisciplinary team science approach.
