Dr. Kwako is the Acting Director, Division of Treatment & Recovery and Chief, Treatment, Health Services, & Recovery Branch, which supports research across the continuum of care for people with alcohol use disorder, at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, a part of NIH. Dr. Kwako, a licensed psychologist, has provided addiction-focused care at outpatient and inpatient settings, including at a regional psychiatric hospital in Maryland. In addition to overseeing alcohol-related research programs, she leads a weekly recovery-focused group at NIAAA’s inpatient treatment program for AUD, located at the NIH Clinical Center.
