Peter D. Friedmann, MD, MPH, FASAM, FACP, Professor of Medicine, Health Services, Policy and Practice at the Alpert Medical School and School of Public Health at Brown University, directs the Research Section in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital and the Center of Innovation in Long-Term Services and Supports, a center for health services research at the Providence VA Medical Center. He is a primary care internist, addiction medicine clinician, and established substance abuse health services researcher who has published widely on the organization of treatment services across the substance abuse treatment, medical and criminal justice systems. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Addiction Medicine, a past president of the Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse (AMERSA), Associate Editor of the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, and Internal Medicine Specialty Director on the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
