Kurtis Pruitt is a medical student at Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine with a strong interest in addiction medicine, public health, and quality improvement. Before medical school, he served with AmeriCorps, focusing on opioid overdose prevention efforts in underserved communities. His abstract examines the perspective of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) on treating opioid use disorder, aiming to identify challenges and opportunities for expanding access to care. In addition, Kurtis has been involved in quality improvement initiatives to reduce opioid prescriptions associated with surgical and interventional procedures, working to promote safer prescribing practices. He plans to further his training in internal medicine, with a commitment to advancing evidence-based approaches to addiction treatment and pain management.
