Student
Middlebury College
Oakley Martin (she/her) is a student at Middlebury College pursuing an undergraduate degree in neuroscience. Currently in Dr. Zu Wei Zhai's lab at Middlebury, she utilizes longitudinal survey data, diffusion-weighted MRI brain scans, and statistical modeling (e.g., moderation tests and factor analysis) to examine the effects of substance use, childhood trauma, and family dynamics on white-matter microstructure. Additionally, as a Research Associate for the Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment, Opioid Education, and Naloxone Distribution (SBIRT-OEND) study at Bellevue Hospital in New York, she gained experience administering substance use screeners to patients and coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams. Following her graduation, she hopes to continue working in the field of clinically-focused neuropsychiatric research.
