Matthew Ellis, Phd(c), MPE is a Research Faculty Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis, School of Medicine. A Masters of Psychiatric Epidemiology, he is currently completing his doctorate in Public Health at Saint Louis University College of Public Health and Social Justice. He is the Principal Investigator of a long-running opioid surveillance study, a component program of the Researched Abuse, Diversion and Addiction-Related Surveillance (RADARS) System. Matthew has worked in addiction epidemiology for over a decade, focusing on transitions from prescription opioids to heroin, co-morbid conditions of opioid use disorder, impacts of interventions such as abuse-deterrent formulations, and more recently, polysubstance use and the intertwined methamphetamine and opioid use.
