Anyun Ma, MD, PhD, is an addiction medicine fellow at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Dr. Ma earned her medical degree from Tongji University School of Medicine in Shanghai, China. Driven by a passion for understanding the intricate connections between the brain and body, she pursued a PhD in neurocardiac physiology at UNMC. Following her doctoral studies, Dr. Ma completed her residency training in family medicine at Nebraska Medicine. It was during this time that she recognized the urgent need for evidence-based approaches to address the growing crisis of substance use disorders, inspiring her to specialize in addiction medicine for her fellowship.
Dr. Ma is deeply committed to integrating addiction medicine into primary care settings, where she believes early intervention and continuous support can significantly improve patient outcomes. She is dedicated to breaking down barriers to care and reducing the stigma associated with addiction, ensuring that individuals receive compassionate, comprehensive, and effective treatment.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Ma enjoys spending time with her family, painting, cooking, and reading. These activities not only provide her with a creative outlet but also help her maintain a balanced perspective, which she brings to her work and patient care.
