Stacy Sterling, DrPH, MSW, MPH, is a Research Scientist and Co-Director of the Center for Addiction and Mental Health Research at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California (KPNC) Division of Research, and is an Associate Adjunct Professor, UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and an Associate Professor, Department of Health Systems Science, Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. She received her doctoral training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Gillings School of Global Public Health, and master’s degrees in Public Health and Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focus is on developing health policies and interventions to increase treatment access to health, substance abuse and mental health services, and improve outcomes for vulnerable populations, including adolescents, women, and people with co-occurring disorders. She is the Principal Investigator of a number of NIH- and foundation-supported studies focused on identification and treatment of alcohol, drug and other behavioral health problems, in adult and pediatric primary care and other non-specialty treatment settings, and the successful implementation, sustainment and health outcomes related to alcohol screening, brief intervention and treatment in primary care.
