Elise Wessol, DO, is an addiction medicine physician practicing at Carle Addiction Recovery Center in Champaign, Illinois. After attending medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, she completed her family medicine residency at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. She then completed addiction medicine fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She now works in both outpatient, inpatient, and mobile health settings providing treatment for people with substance use disorders. She serves on the board of directors for the Illinois Society of Addiction Medicine and chairs the education committee. She is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine. She is passionate about educating clinicians, residents, medical students, and the public in an effort to banish stigma, inform policy makers, and promote evidence-based treatment for people who suffer from the disease of addiction.
