I am Anandalakshmi Ponnaluri, MD, MS, an PGY-1 Psychiatry Resident in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Prime West Consortium–St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, California. I hold a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research and have a strong academic interest in substance use disorders, population-level epidemiology, and health disparities. My work focuses on analyzing global and regional trends in substance use disorders using large datasets such as the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study, with an emphasis on translating epidemiologic findings into evidence-based addiction prevention, treatment, and policy strategies. I am particularly interested in integrating public health approaches with clinical psychiatry to improve outcomes for underserved and vulnerable populations.
