CLEAR Hospital Liaison and Systems Integration Manager
Yale School of Public Health and Liberation Programs
Carson Ferrara, MPH, recently graduated from the Yale School of Public Health with his Master of Public Health in social and behavioral sciences, where he focused on substance use, harm reduction, and firearm injury prevention. His thesis focused on access to harm reduction resources within formal treatment settings for people who use drugs. Carson has been involved in substance use disorder and harm-reduction work since high school, including working as an intern for the United Nations Children's Fund, advocating for overdose prevention centers in Connecticut as a legislative intern under Sen. Saud Anwar, serving as president of the Drug Overdose Reduction and Education (DORE) Initiative at Vanderbilt University and co-chair of the Addiction Medicine Collaborative at Yale University, and most recently as the current Hospital Liaison under the Community and Law Enforcement for Addiction Recovery (CLEAR) grant with Liberation Programs in Connecticut. As a future physician, Carson believes it is vital for healthcare professionals and community organizations to work together to ensure the health and wellbeing of all people who use drugs, regardless of whether they are ready for treatment or not.
