Nicole Kouri is a clinical psychologist and postdoctoral fellow working with Dr. Charlie Neighbors' in the Health Evaluation and Analytics Lab (HEAL), a joint initiative of NYU Langone’s Department of Population Health and NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Nicole assists with the development and implementation of interventions to improve the quality of substance use disorder treatment across New York state. She also studies healthcare using Medicaid and other administrative data.
Nicole completed her master's degree in psychology at the New School for Social Research with a concentration in substance abuse counseling. She then moved to Detroit, MI to obtain her PhD in clinical psychology at Wayne State University. At Wayne State, Nicole minored in statistics and consulted for the Research Design and Analysis Unit. She completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship at New York Presbyterian/Columbia’s Irving Medical Center. As a clinician and researcher, Nicole works with people affected by co-occurring substance use and trauma- and stressor-related disorders. She has studied the negative impact of interpersonal violence, PTSD, and dissociation on interpersonal development and functioning in adolescence and adulthood. Nicole’s long-term research priorities are to improve the accessibility and effectiveness of treatments for co-occurring PTSD and substance use disorders.
