Dr. Emily Brunner DFASAM is currently the medical director of Gateway Detox in Invergrove Heights, Minnesota and a physician consultant specializing in improvement of addiction care within systems at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Dr. Brunner received a B.S. in neuroscience at MIT, followed by attending the University of Michigan for medical school and family practice residency. She became board certified in addiction medicine in 2014, and has worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings over the past decade. Dr. Brunner enjoys teaching residents and medical students, and has a strong passion for helping mentor primary care physicians in adding addiction medicine services to their practice. Dr. Brunner has also been involved in ASAM at multiple levels, including as treasurer and president of the Minnesota branch of ASAM, and regional director for Region VI starting in 2021. She has also been focused on expansion of our ability to care for behavioral addictions since 2020.
