Dr. Alexa Anderson (Lopez), PhD is an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). She received her PhD in Experimental Psychology/Behavioral Pharmacology from the University of Vermont in 2014, and she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Tobacco Regulatory Science at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2014-2016. She then worked as a Civilian Research Psychologist with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Tacoma, Washington, and as a technical writer/editor with the Veterans Health Administration in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Anderson joined the faculty in the College of Health Professions and Sciences at UWM in 2019, where she has been actively involved in health-related research involving marginalized populations with a focus on substance use, co-occurring conditions, perinatal health, and intimate partner violence. She has co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles. Dr. Anderson has also been actively involved in peer review and journal editorial service for over ten years, most currently completing a two-year Editorial Fellowship for ASAM's Journal of Addiction Medicine from 2023-2024.
