Daniel Schatz, MD is the Medical Director of Addiction Services at NYC’s Health + Hospitals, the largest municipal hospital system in the country. As the clinical lead for addiction services, he supports the system’s numerous outpatient addiction clinics and consultation services across emergency departments, inpatient units, outpatient settings, community-based, and virtual care. He focuses on innovation, implementation, optimization, and guiding policies using a data-driven approach to care. With an emphasis on meeting patients where they are and addressing their needs, Dr. Schatz helps shape a range of interventions—from harm reduction to medication-assisted treatment—and works to create low-barrier access to care while addressing stigma and fostering cultural change. He is dedicated to reducing the impact of addiction and saving lives in New York City.
