Dr Jacqueline Mahal is an Emergency Medicine Physician and Assistant Medical Director of Addiction Services Workforce Training Program (WTP) at NYC Health+Hospitals, New York City’s public health system. The WTP is developing a novel, systemwide substance use curriculum for our behavioral health workforce which aims to reach 3000+ peer, social work, nursing and provider staff in order to: (1) Achieve systemic culture change in the treatment of individuals living with addiction; (2) Facilitate appropriate addiction medical treatment and care management. In her role in Addiction Services, she has also been integral in developing clinical workflows, EMR tools, education and training efforts to facilitate the utilization of medication to treat OUD in the system’s 11 Emergency Departments.
She is the PI on a CDC grant and formerly on DOHMH service grants to provide HIV services to patient in the Jacobi Department of Emergency Medicine in the Bronx as well as via the health system’s 24-hour virtual medical clinic.
Her academic appointment is at Albert Einstein Medical School where she is both an alum and more recently, an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine. She is a graduate of Harvard College and has an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
