Stephen Martin, MD, EdM has been Medical Director for Research, Education & Quality at Boulder Care for over six years. He is board certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine and a Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health at UMass Chan Medical School. At UMass, Steve is a primary care physuician, residency faculty, and co-director of the Rural Health Scholars Program; he previously co-directed the UMass Project ECHO which successfuly scaled treatment in upstate New York. He also is affiliate faculty at the Center for Primary Care at Harvard Medical School.
Steve serves on the Quality Improvement Council for the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He is the lead or senior author of publications in journals such as BMJ, JAMA, Journal of Addiction Medicine, Lancet, Annals of Internal Medicine, and the American Journal of Public Health. He appreciates being a co-Investigator on Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants awarded to Boulder Care by the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
A graduate of Williams College, Harvard Graduate School of Education, Harvard Medical School, and residency in Family Medicine at Boston University, he was a National Health Service Scholar in a rural community health center and a Federal Prison Medical Center.
