Dr. J. Andrew Legan, MD, is an associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Virginia. Dr. Legan completed his undergraduate degree at James Madison University. He earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Then, he completed his psychiatry residency and an addiction medicine fellowship at the University of Virginia. Dr. Legan leads the addiction medicine consult service. He is also involved in community outreach.
His research interests include bioethics, novel treatments for substance use disorder, and novel treatments for alcohol use disorder in patients with liver disease.
