Stephen M. Sandelich, MD is an Attending Physician in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Sandelich specializes in substance use disorders, adolescent mental health, and harm reduction strategies in emergency care. His research focuses on improving substance use screening and interventions in pediatric emergency settings, particularly addressing opioid use disorder and adolescent vaping. He serves as the Opioid Use Disorder Interest Group Lead for the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) and is actively involved in research-to-policy collaborations aimed at translating evidence-based findings into clinical practice and legislative action. In addition to his clinical and research roles, Dr. Sandelich is a pediatric section editor for The Western Journal of Emergency Medicine and mentors medical students and residents in research related to pediatric emergency medicine and addiction medicine.
