Catherine Smith, DO FASAM is board certified in family medicine and addiction medicine. She completed her Family Medicine Residency training at the Northern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program in Santa Fe, NM, and completed Fellowship training in Addiction Medicine at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. She currently works for the Washington State Department of Corrections as the Director of Addiction Medicine expanding addiction treatment within the system. She is continually working towards increasing access to addiction treatment within carceral settings and pushing the envelope of possibilities. She maintains teaching relationships with 3 addiction medicine fellowships and continues to work per diem at an inpatient addiction treatment program for pregnant and postpartum women with substance use disorders. She was born and raised in Seattle area but as an adult has lived in four different countries and four different states in the US. Her passion remains in travel, nurturing meaningful human connections, raising two empathetic and emotionally intelligent daughters and providing compassionate healthcare to those impacted by substance use disorders.
