Rachel Wightman, MD is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Epidemiology at Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She is triple board-certified in medical toxicology, emergency medicine, and addiction medicine. She is Director of Toxicology and Addiction Medicine for Brown Emergency Medicine and a Consulting Medical Director at Rhode Island Department of Health.
Her research interests are emerging drug use patterns, cannabis use, and management of opioid use disorder. Dr. Wightman is currently MPI on a NIDA study evaluating optimal buprenorphine maintenance dose for opioid use disorder in patients with fentanyl use (UG3/UH3DA056880) and was PI on a NIDA funded R21 investigating cannabis hyperemesis (R21DA055023) and MPI on a FORE Foundation grant combining toxiciogy and ethnography to evaluate street level changes in the drug supply.
