Sam Hinkes, MD, MPH, is a OB/GYN Resident Physician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He has a focus in Medical Education, LGBTQ+ Health, and is pursuing Addiction Medicine as a fellowship to provide care to pregnant and birthing people with substance use disorders. He graduated from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine through an accelerated and combined MD-MPH degree, focusing his capstone work on people who inject drugs and the acceptability of HPV self-sampling as a means to low-barrier cancer prevention. His mentor, Dr. Jessica Young, leads the Firefly Maternal Addiction & Recovery Program at Vanderbilt and he hopes to pursue work in this space and throughout the United States.
