Ashley Weitensteiner, MSW, is a Ph.D. candidate in the San Diego State University and University of California, San Diego Joint Doctoral Program in Interdisciplinary Research on Substance Use. Her research examines disparities in substance use outcomes, including treatment for opioid use disorder, overdose, and overdose response behaviors. Her work focuses on the investigation of inequities in access to harm reduction drug policies and differences in how these policies are implemented and experienced among marginalized populations, with an emphasis on older adults and individuals experiencing homelessness
