Catherine Hood, BA, is a Clinical Research Assistant at South County Psychiatry and Co-Founder of Addiction CaRE Volunteers at the University of Pennsylvania. Her work focuses on improving the hospital experience for patients with substance use disorders through harm reduction initiatives, patient engagement, and expanded access to HIV prevention resources. Through both research and program development, she works to shift how healthcare providers and institutions engage with patients who use drugs, promoting more compassionate and patient-centered approaches to addiction care. Her interests include addiction medicine, harm reduction, and hospital-based interventions that strengthen trust and access to care for structurally vulnerable populations. She plans to pursue a career in medicine focused on advancing equitable addiction treatment through clinical care, research, and advocacy.
