Alexander D. Lucente, BS, is a third-year medical student and researcher at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Long School of Medicine. His work focuses on addiction medicine and improving hospital-based care for patients with opioid use disorder. He conducts research examining physician perspectives on barriers to the inpatient use of opioid-agonist therapies. His academic interests include addiction medicine, pain medicine, and anesthesiology. Lucente is also involved in educational initiatives including Doctors of Tomorrow and Stop the Bleed, where he engages middle school, high school, and college students in learning about healthcare careers and hemorrhage control.
