Debra Moore, PhD, is a research associate professor with the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. By training, she is a quantitative methodologist with more than 15 years of experience in research design and analysis, program evaluation, and psychometrics. She currently serves as the Senior Director of Research and Evaluation for the Implementation and Research Center for Healthy Communities (IRC). Overseeing IRC’s research and evaluation specialists; the team designs, monitors, and implements comprehensive mixed methods research and evaluation plans for all of IRC’s projects. Additionally, she serves as the primary investigator (PI) for SAMHSA, HRSA, and CDC- funded grants that focus on substance use and suicide prevention. Prior, Dr. Moore spearheaded the 5-year digital redesign of a statewide assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities, and conducting validity studies to ensure technical adequacy of the redesigned assessments resulting in a successful federal peer review. During her time at the Clinical and Translational Science Institute University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Moore developed outcomes-based curricular frameworks and assessment resources to support faculty implementation of the new curriculum. As a consultant, she has served as psychometrician, program evaluator, and statistical analyst for NSF and other funded projects assessing programmatic interventions with a special focus on initiatives aimed at increasing opportunities and success for under-represented populations. A former National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certified music teacher, she continues to teach university-level courses in research methodology, assessment, and applied statistics. Dr. Moore also supports students across the broader university by serving on dissertation and master’s committees as a methodologist.
