This session will address the specific challenges faced by mothers with substance use disorders (SUD) and opioid use disorders (OUD) during their breastfeeding journeys. Participants will gain evidence-based insights and practical tools designed to enhance support for these populations. The presentation will emphasize culturally sensitive strategies and promote interprofessional collaboration, ultimately fostering a more equitable and inclusive healthcare environment.

Upon completion, participants will be able to summarize key statistics related to breastfeeding and substance/opioid use disorders, highlighting trends and their impact on maternal and infant health.
Upon completion, participants will be able to apply evidence-based guidelines from The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine's Clinical Protocol #21 to develop strategies for supporting breastfeeding mothers with SUD and OUD.
Upon completion, participants will be able to engage in open dialogue during the Q&A session, addressing specific concerns and sharing experiences related to breastfeeding in the context of substance/opioid use disorders.
