Chloe Lessard, MPH, MJ is a fourth year medical student at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine interested in OB/GYN and Addiction Medicine. Prior to medical school, she attended undergraduate at UC Davis and completed her Master's of Public Health (Epidemiology/Biostatistics) and Master's of Journalism at UC Berkeley. After finishing her degrees, she worked as a teratogen counselor and research assistant at UC San Diego. In these roles, she counseled individuals on exposures during pregnancy and contributed to research on birth defects. She also trained and had the privilege to volunteer as a birth doula. In medical school, her research has focused on substance use during pregnancy and nonjudgemental, trauma-informed care. She is an advocate for appreciating the whole patient and their stories.
