Alexis Coffee,PharmD is the Academia/ Family Medicine Research Fellow at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Herbert M. and Carol H. Retzky College of Pharmacy. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the UIC Retzky College of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 community-based residency at Endeavor Health. Her research interests include social determinants of health and their impacts on treatment for substance use disorders, enhancing student preparedness for post-graduate training and the job market, and the impact of community pharmacists on patient access to care. She is currently pursuing a Master of Health Professions Education alongside her teaching and research responsibilities. Through this fellowship, she has the opportunity to staff on a mobile medical unit that provides clinical services to Chicago’s West Side and on the inpatient opioid use disorder consult service. She hopes to have more great opportunities like this one to present her research and network with others in the addiction medicine space.
