Dr. Gayane “Gaya” Archer is a third-year psychiatry resident at Northwestern University, where she is enrolled in both the Clinician Educator and Bioethics tracks. She earned her medical degree from Rush Medical College with a concentration in Health Equity and Social Justice Leadership, where she founded a street medicine program and an outreach initiative for youth at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center. In residency, Dr. Archer focuses on substance use disorder education and has developed an innovative opioid use disorder curriculum at the Feinberg School of Medicine. She is also active in the hospital’s Interdisciplinary Learning Network for Substance Use and Health Improvement Team (INSITE) and serves as a curriculum reviewer for the National Collaborative for Education to Address the Social Determinants of Health (NCEAS). Her contributions to medical education have been recognized through her induction into the Feinberg Academy of Medical Educators and by receiving the George Ginsberg Fellowship from the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training (AADPRT). Driven by a commitment to advocacy through education, Dr. Archer aims to inspire future healthcare providers to deliver compassionate, equitable care through a career in academic psychiatry.
